Reflections on 2024
As the New Year approaches, I often hear the familiar saying, "Out with the old and in with the new!" While I certainly appreciate the value of fresh starts and new opportunities, I’ve come to recognize the importance of balancing this with preserving and strengthening longstanding relationships, proven methods, and the aspects of business that never go out of style. For Pupfish, our "old faithful" values—integrity, transparency, sustainability, and doing right by our clients—have always been at the core of how we do business. Over the past year, it’s been exciting to watch our steadfast values and methods expand alongside new opportunities, relationships, and markets, striking a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
Over the past year, Pupfish has expanded our impact by offering electronics pickups across a broader range of locations, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, as well as consulting services in Los Angeles and Chicago. We once again received NAID AAA Certification® from i-Sigma, affirming adherence to the highest security and ethical standards in information destruction. We are in the process of re-applying for Certified B Corporation status, which signifies that our company meets the highest standards of social and environmental impact. I had the opportunity to join an outstanding panel at Ruskin, Moscou, Faltischek to discuss the often-overlooked cybersecurity issues in a session titled “Beyond the Firewall.” Pupfish also participated in the Vision LI 2024 Smart Growth Summit, where we engaged in discussions on key issues shaping the future of Long Island, including infrastructure, housing, transportation, and clean energy. This year has been marked by strong growth, driven by the continued support of returning clients, the strengthening of existing relationships, and the development of new partnerships, particularly in the IT sector. To keep pace with our continued growth and maintain an exceptional client experience, we implemented an efficient new ERP system and welcomed new members to the Pupfish team.
Team Pupfish participated in the Paddle Battle LI to benefit the NY Marine Rescue Center for the fourth consecutive year (snagging our third 1st place finish in the Corporate Challenge). While the Maggie Fischer Great South Bay Cross Bay Swim was unfortunately canceled due to fog this year, Pupfish is proud to sponsor this important event, which raised over $125,000 for the Hospice Care Network Children's and Family Bereavement Program despite the cancellation. Pupfish remained dedicated to supporting local organizations by donating repurposed electronics to the Alzheimer Disease Resource Center, Impactful Lives, and Mondays at Racine Cancer Care. Most recently, we upheld our holiday tradition of giving by supporting a pajama drive for EJ’s PJs, and adopting a local family through Christmas Magic Long Island.
Finally, Pupfish Sustainability Solutions is proud to announce that we have kept over 318,000 pounds of toxic waste out of landfills to date! We are grateful to those who trusted us to provide uncompromised data destruction and sustainable e-recycling this past year. I also want to extend my gratitude to the amazing Pupfish Team – without their tireless work ethic and commitment to our core values, none of what we do would be possible. We are excited to continue delivering our tried-and-true, industry-best services in the New Year and balancing these Pupfish traditions with new opportunities, innovation, and another year of growth.
