The Pupfish Story

I’m often asked, “What is a Pupfish? And what does it have to do with data destruction and e-recycling?”

A Pupfish is a tiny, endangered fish that lives in Death Valley. It survives under the most extreme conditions, and its existence is challenged primarily by human interference.

My parents used to travel to Death Valley every year after attending an electronics trade show in Las Vegas, and one of my dad’s favorite activities was hiking out to Salt Creek to visit the Pupfish. Through the years, Dad brought his children, and later, his grandchildren, to Death Valley to share the Pupfish experience with them as well.

The Pupfish embodies characteristics that are essential to our business: resiliency, adaptability, and sustainability. The Pupfish company culture also represents key aspects of business inherited from my father – transparency, integrity, and an interest in balancing people with profitability.

The Pupfish will always be meaningful to me, and I hope that, as you work with us, you will come to appreciate its significance and share our story.
