What is a Pupfish?

One of the questions I’m most frequently asked during introductory calls, at networking events, and on pickups is, “What is a Pupfish? And what does it have to do with data destruction and e-recycling?"

A Pupfish is a tiny, endangered fish that lives in Death Valley. It survives under the most extreme conditions, and its existence is challenged primarily by human interference.

My parents used to travel to Death Valley every year after attending an electronics trade show in Las Vegas, and one of my dad’s favorite activities was hiking out to Salt Creek to visit the Pupfish. Through the years, Dad brought his children, and later, his grandchildren, to Death Valley to share the Pupfish experience with them as well.

The Pupfish embodies characteristics that are essential to our business:

The Pupfish company culture also represents key aspects of business inherited from my father – transparency, integrity, and an interest in balancing people with profitability. Team Pupfish regularly gives back to our local community by participating in events such as the LI Paddle Battle to Save the Sea Turtles, the LI Coalition Against Bullying 5K, Earth Day Cleanups, and more. We are proud to be a Certified B Corporation and are committed to using business as a force for global good.

The Pupfish will always be meaningful to me, and I hope that, as you work with us, you will come to appreciate its significance and share our story.

Best Regards,

David Faverio, Pupfish President
